Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Agra to Dholpur and Gwalior
Pick up from your hotel in Agra at 8:00 am and transfer to Dholpur, a 1 hour and 15-minute drive. Enjoy a 2-hour boat safari to observe crocodiles and gharials and for bird watching. The location is a good spot to see the river turn. Afterward, drive to Gwalior, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day sightseeing in Gwalior. Overnight stay in a hotel in Gwalior.

Day 02: Gwalior to Orchha via Datia and Jhansi
After breakfast, drive to Orchha, stopping en route to visit Datia Fort and Jhansi Fort. Overnight stay in a hotel in Orchha.

Datia Fort/Palace:
Built by Maharaj Bir Singh Deo, the founder of Datia state, this seven-story palace is situated on an isolated rock. Maharaj Bir Singh Deo constructed around 52 palaces across India, but this one is considered the best. The palace, which combines Mughal and Rajputana architecture, cost about 35 lakhs rupees (3,500,000) and took nine years to complete. In 1614 AD, Maharaj Bir Singh Deo went to Mathura, where he weighed himself in gold and then began building this fort. Historian Abdul Hamid Lahori visited the city with Shah Jahan in 1635 and was very impressed by the palace. Lord Hastings, the British Governor-General, stayed in the fort in 1818, and in 1902, an event to welcome Lord Curzon, the Viceroy, was held here.

Jhansi Fort:
Built in 1613 by Veer Singh Ju Deo, ruler of the kingdom of Orchha and Bundela Rajput, this fort is a typical example of North Indian defense architecture. The fort, located on a hilly area, has many gates, including Khanderao Gate, Datia Darwaja, Laxmi Gate, Jharna Gate, Unnao Gate, Sagar Gate, Sainyar Gate, Orchha Gate, and Chand Gate. Key sites within the fort include the Shiva temple, Ganesh temple at the entrance, and the Kadak Bijli cannon used in the uprising of 1857. The fort is also historically significant as the place where Rani Laxmi Bai, one of the greatest warriors against the British, jumped from the fort on horseback.

After visiting these forts, continue the drive to Orchha, which is about 20 km away. Overnight stay in a hotel in Orchha.

Day 03: Exploring Orchha and Transfer to Khajuraho
After breakfast, visit the Orchha Fort complex, which includes Jahangir Palace, Raja Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, and the Cenotaphs. Later, drive to Khajuraho, a 3-hour journey. Overnight stay in a hotel in Khajuraho.

Day 04: Exploring Khajuraho
After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Western and Eastern groups of temples. Later, transfer to the rail station or airport for your departure.
